Davey

This episode of Adventure Time was so strange.  I was really appalled when Finn split that dragon up the crack in the beginning.  Anyways, I wanna go to bed.

I really hope that Jake's babies make appearances on the show.  It'd be totally lame if he had children that pretty much never exist.

This isn't the first time we've seen Finn lose his mind.

Voodoo Vol. 1

I've heard a lot of complaints about the new Voodoo, but I thought that it was a fairly good read.  Maybe I'm biased because I'm a fan of the older Voodoo comics, and a fan of the older story line, butt this one is fine too.  The original being that Voodoo couls see when there was a Daemonite controlling a human, and now that Voodoo is a hybrid-Daemonite.

Alien stories are the best.  And I like them even more when they are told from the point of view of the alien.

There's also been a lot of shame about all of the sexiness in the New 52 pertaining to the ladies.  Come on y'all, she's a stripper.  I know, I know, she just HAD to be a stripper of all choices, but why not?  Strippers are real people in this world.  They're not bad people.  And this volume pointed that out clearly: the dancers are single moms and college students.  Plus, strippers are more in shape than most women, they have to DANCE all night long (I made that sound like it was painful or something (but I'm sure it does get painful!)).  Besides, I like that she's hot.

It took me awhile to figure out that Voodoo can shape-shift.  So this whole scene (below) really confused the hell out of me.  Yes, I made it sketch for a reason.. so I don't completely ruin the book.

Is she still hot?

 And then this happened...

Sorry about my crappy copy-making skills.
Anywho, it was easy to figure out once I kept reading.  I'm super sad that this was cancelled , because I was really looking forward to it and actually liked what I saw.

This volume left a lot of unanswered questions.  Why are there two Voodoos and who was the first one?  How did she become a hybrid?  Why is Voodoo the bad guy?  Why do they want to destroy the superheroes?  Okay, I really just ruined the whole story for y'all.

Jake the Dad

Okay kids, we've finally seen the new episode of Adventure Time.  I don't know what to think.  I'm kind of disappointed.  I wish the babies would have stayed babies for a little longer.  So I guess Jake's fatherhood won't affect the show too much?

Anyways, super badass babies.  Makes my day.  Anxious to see how this all plays out later on.

I really hope that Jake Jr. develops a face.  It's kind of super scary that she doesn't have one.  Or maybe there will be an explanation for her lack of face?  Hopefully they all get personalities.

Long day.  Travel is the worse.  Nighty-night!

Jake the Dad Sneak Peek

If anybody else needs a little sneak peek of the new Adventure Time episode, here is your place.  Oh, and by the way, people are blowing Tumblr up with sneak peeks.  Okay, let us begin.

We all remember the end of Lady and Peebles where Lady Rainicorn tells Jake that she's pregnant.  And below we have Jake putting his thumb in different things (like Lady's bellybutton) in order to feel like a good boy.

So, now we know what goes on in Jake and Lady's spare time.
And what we keep seeing on the commercials is Jake about to show Uncle Finn the new pups.

It's not clear if we're seeing several bodies or one centipede of a baby.
And here is my favorite picture (so far) of the babies.  Okay NOW, if you don't want to ruin anything, no spoilers or nothing, then exit and go the flop home.

So cute!  They're sleeping!  Mostly.
And!  They even have names!

I love how Jake wears a hat just like his daddy did.

And of course, a little animation to show that Jake is feeling the struggles of fatherhood.  I think this is a good thing as Adventure Time is a 'children's show.'  Children need to know that they make their parents miserable.

I've been enjoying the fan art.  There's some kind of rumor about Jake Jr.'s appearance (he doesn't have much of a face) having something to do with Ricardio hurting Lady in the Lady and Peebles episode.

Brings tears to my eyes...

And lastly, an older Uncle Finn playing confidante to little Charlie.

Maybe Finn will one day be attractive.
I'm so stoked for tomorrow!  I won't be getting home till late, so I won't get to post the resultants of this episode till super DUPER late.

I'm really excited to see how this will play out, there being little guys looking up to Finn and Jake.  I totally thought that Lady Rainicorn being pregnant was a little risque for kids, but who cares.  They have their ideas of where babies come from.  And plus, it gave the show a great soap-opera kind of feel.

Bring on the cornpups!

By the way, did y'all know that Jake is 28?

Naturama

Episode 13 of Season 7 of Futurama.  What in the hell did I just watch?  This is really what y'all are going to leave us with?  I think I actually learned something from this episode.  Actually I did, John DiMaggio plays Jake from Adventure Time and Bender from Futurama.  But come on, if you're going to go on a production break for awhile, then leave us with something epic, not educational.

Futurama speaks to my childhood.  I love that old Simpon's style of art.  Everytime the theme song comes on, I take a running dive to the couch, where my butt will be happily planted for the rest of the afternoon.  But, I'm for sure a bigger fan of the old episodes.

Pom Poko

Pom Poko, created by Isao Takahata and produced be Studio Ghibli, is an animated film about raccoon dogs, referred to as tanuki.  Raccoon dogs only exist on the Asian continent and are widely used and abused on fur farms.

Unfortunately, the English dubbed version of Pom Poko only refers to the dogs as "raccoons," and not as raccoon dogs.

This movie is rather strange, as the raccoon dogs are avid shape-shifters and use their power to frighten the humans when they begin destroying their forest.  The actual strange part: their balls also shape-shift.  Raccoon dogs are known for their prominent testicles and are generally portrayed as having such.  But the movie does not forget this at all.  The dogs' "raccoon pouch" is always visible, and is sometimes even inflated to be used as a giant punching bag.  But what's even more strange about the movie is that it's obviously directed towards children.  Everything about Pom Poko is very childlike, even the whole aspect of stretchy balls.  The Japanese are not shy about their bodies, and honestly, I think the rest of the world should stop acting like it's shameful as well.

Oh yes, that is exactly what you think it is.

Pom Poko is very cute but with a rather sad message.

Princess Mononoke

Hayao Miyazaki is the best film maker of all time (in my humble opinion).  Also, Studio Ghibli produces some great pieces.

Princess Mononoke is great if you're an environmental kind of person.  There are a ton of themes relating back to animals, connecting with the environment, and spirituality.  This movie greatly translates humans' loss of spiritual connection or even old religion, and knowing Miyazaki, this probably has to do with the Japanese people discarding their old Shinto traditions.  Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself?

Another great component of Miyazaki's work: the females are always in power.  And almost ALL of the powerful people's in this movie were female.  The wolf god, the wolf princess, the lady wielding the guns, the medicine woman in the beginning.  Amazing.

I find myself watching this movie over and over again.  It's the deep spiritual connection with nature that I'm drawn to.
